Somerset County officials are planning to build a new senior wellness center on vacant land along Main Street near the Somerset Patriots ballpark, completing the second half of a campus that will be shared with the adjacent Adult Day Center of Somerset County.

The county freeholders on Tuesday awarded a $5.5 million contract to Irvington-based KM Construction Corp. to build the roughly 14,000-square-foot building. Construction will likely begin in June and take about a year to complete, officials said.

3G's Plumbing was awarded the plumbing sub-contract by KM Construction Corp. for this project that is estimated to be completed in July of 2015.
